In 2022, Freedom and Misty Acoustic Music was founded by a couple of music enthusiasts who wanted to share their passion with the world. They met during a Sunday jam session at a little bar called Freddie G's and soon started performing at local events, quickly gaining a reputation for their live acoustic performances.
Freedom Shearon is a seasoned musician whose passion for the guitar ignited at the age of 14. Proficient in acoustic and electric guitar, as well as bass, his musical prowess extends beyond instrumental mastery to include captivating vocal performances and songwriting skills. Originally hailing from Poplar Bluff, Freedom later moved to the Champaign, Illinois area where he shared the stage with his late wife, Tonya Shearon, in several bands, leaving an indelible mark on the local music scene. His talent garnered notable opportunities, such as opening for iconic acts like Foghat, Edgar Winter, and Head East. In 2021, Freedom returned to his roots in Missouri, where he joined forces with Misty, igniting a musical partnership that blossomed in 2022. Together, they continue to create and share their passion for music with audiences far and wide.
Misty DeJournett's musical journey began in her childhood, where she discovered her passion for singing, standing on the side of PP Highway with a sign that read; Will Sing For A quarter. Hailing from the tiny town of Puxico, Missouri, Misty's early years were filled with the melodies that would shape her future. Despite her love for music, it wasn't until the age of 38 that Misty found the courage and opportunity to sing in a band. Her debut into the music scene came with Old School, an experience she treasures, having been invited by her dear friend and talented musician, Edward Leoni. Influenced by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, and Zach Bryan, Misty's musical stylings reflect a blend of nostalgia and contemporary allure. In 2022, she joined forces with Freedom, and soon began playing in several venues locally. Music is more than just a passion— it's a source of emotion and a universal language that transcends boundaries. With every performance, she aims to evoke that shared feeling of connection music uniquely offers.
